Manchester United have been scouting Kalvin Phillips of Leeds United, as reported by Mirror.
The 20-time English champions have been seriously struggling this season, and following the Premier League games played on Saturday, they sit in 15th place with 10 points to their name, only two more than Southampton who are in the relegation zone. However, they will have a chance to climb the ladder significantly when they face Norwich City at the Carrow Road on Sunday.
They are aware of a need to rebuild the squad under the command of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Phillips could potentially be of interest to them in that respect.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder signed a new contract with Leeds only last month, set to keep him at Elland Road until 2024, but he may be allowed to leave the club if Leeds fail to win promotion at the end of this season.
If they decide to step up their interest, however, United might face competition from Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley, who are all reportedly interested as well, while earlier this year, Leeds apparently rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for his services.
