With Manchester City running away with the Premier League title, their closest rivals, both geographically and in the league table, Manchester United, need to make a big statement in the January transfer window. Thankfully Jose Mourinho has always been a man of big statements, and a reported £90m bid for Chelsea star Eden Hazard should do the trick.
It would take a substantial sum for the Red Devils to be able to convince the Blues to part with their brilliant Belgian, but, according to the Guardian, United are keen on acquiring his services.
Mourinho’s men find themselves 11 points behind City after 18 games, and it would take a minor miracle to catch the Cityzens now. Hazard is certainly a man capable of performing miracles on a football pitch, and last season he contributed 16 goals and five assists to Chelsea’s title-winning campaign.
His addition to an already stacked United squad would certainly make them a force to be reckoned with, and would at least provide a glimmer of hope regarding this season’s league title.
