Manchester United starlet Andreas Pereira has revealed he is seriously considering an offer to join Italian Serie A giants Juventus this summer after turning down a new contract at Old Trafford.
The Belgium-born Brazil Under-2o international, whose current deal with United is set to expire at the end of the season, is reportedly being targeted by both Juventus and Paris-Saint Germain.
This speculation will surely seem all too familiar for United’s supporters, who have not forgotten Paul Pogba’s move from Manchester to Turin in the summer of 2012 on a free transfer.
“Everyone knows that Juve are a great club,” Pereira told Tuttosport.
“I have spoken with Pogba many times, he is a good friend and he told me that I would be well served in moving to Turin, both personally and professionally, two important things for me.
“At this time I’m tied to United. My agent is evaluating the offers that have arrived, including that of Juventus, but it’s no secret. Just as it’s no secret that I have turned down the offers made by my current club.
“I know the Italian league and I certainly would not be disappointed to play there as it is one of the best leagues. But I have not taken a decision yet.
“Alongside my entourage, I will evaluate all the offers that we have received and will evaluate many things before taking a decision. The financial aspect will be important but not crucial in making my decision.”
Pereira, who has been an unused substitute for Louis van Gaal on five occasions in English Premier League this term, debuted for the Red Devils in their 4-0 Capital One Cup defeat to League One side MK Dons last August.
Chelsea youngster joins MK Dons on loan
MK Dons have completed the loan signing of Chelsea teenager Lewis Baker for the rest of the season.
The England youth international, 19, made four appearances for Sheffield Wednesday last month, but will now take his talents to Buckinghamshire to boost the Dons’ hopes of promotion.
“Lewis is one of the most gifted young midfielders in England and I’m looking forward to working with him for the rest of the season,” Dons manager Karl Robinson told the club’s official website.
“Obviously with Dele [Alli] out for up to six weeks, Lewis gives us another option in midfield. He also knows where the goal is too, which is clear by the amount he scored last season – a great achievement at any age level.
“I am confident that this addition will give us a real push at an important time in the season.”
