Man United step up Pellegrini chase

According to Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United are getting serious about their interest in Lorenzo Pellegrini. The Roma midfielder has been catching the eye of Jose Mourinho over the course of the last few months, and now, the youngster appears to be moving a step closer towards making this transfer a reality.

Mourinho wants to get the deal done, ideally, during the January transfer window, with a meeting being arranged between United and Lorenzo’s representatives.

United are more than willing to push a deal through for his £26.6 million release clause, and on top of that, they’re open to doubling his salary. While there’s no guarantee that he’ll slot straight into the starting XI, he’s certainly talented enough to challenge for such a spot especially given the kind of youth stars we’ve seen come through the ranks at Old Trafford in recent years.

Manchester United will return to Premier League action this weekend against Crystal Palace.
