Man United take Woolston on trial

According to reports in England, Manchester United have signed goalkeeper Paul Woolston on a trial deal. The 20 year old was recently released by Newcastle United, but it seems as if Jose Mourinho sees something in the youngster. Woolston is one of many top young goalkeepers rising up through the ranks of English football, with many having the eventual aim of dethroning Jordan Pickford as England’s number one.

The number one spot at Old Trafford, however, is pretty much locked in at this point. David De Gea continues to serve as arguably the best goalkeeper in Europe, and despite many believing that he’d go to Real Madrid, his future seems to be in Manchester. Woolston has a handful of great traits especially at such a young age, and it’ll be interesting to see whether United sign him to a full time contract – at which point he’ll likely be loaned elsewhere for the season.
