Manchester United haven’t given up on their plan to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, though they are putting it on the shelf for the time being, according to Birmingham Mail.
The links between the 20-time English champions and the Villa midfielder have been ongoing for a long time now, with United said to be focusing their recruitment on young British talent. There were reports earlier this month claiming that United have contacted Villa to inquire about a possible deal, but their advances have been rebuffed so far. With Bruno Fernandes reportedly on his way from Sporting Lisbon and his medical possibly being taken today (Wednesday), it seems they have decided to hold off on Grealish for a while. They’ve also reportedly held interest in James Maddison of Leicester City, but after paying £80 million for Harry Maguire last summer, they will know that forcing the Foxes into a sale at this point costs an arm and a leg.
However, Maddison remains their main alternative, should their pursuit of Grealish fail in the end.
