According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United haven’t yet held a board meeting to discuss the fate of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the humiliation suffered at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
There was plenty of talk about Solskjaer potentially losing his job even before this match. United have been far from convincing this season, and they’ve now earned just one point from the last 12 on offer in the Premier League. Their last win in the English top flight came on September 19th, when they triumphed over West Ham in London by 1-2. Even their Champions League triumphs against Villarreal and Atalanta, which followed in the wake of a shocking defeat to Young Boys, seemed thoroughly unconvincing.
Liverpool took full advantage of the obvious crisis in Solskjaer’s ranks and inflicted a wound so deep that it’ll likely take a long time for supporters to forget. The Norwegian is still widely expected to get the sack, and the meeting about it should take place in the next few days, says Romano.
