Manchester United have put the names of Benjamin Sesko and Dusan Vlahovic on their shortlist as possible replacements for Cristiano Ronaldo next summer, according to Sky Sports.
The Portuguese superstar has had some difficult moments under Erik ten Hag this season, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, it’s very hard to imagine him staying at Old Trafford beyond June 2023. However, as Ten Hag himself explained several times, the 37-year-old is an important part of his squad and his role in the squad will need filling when he leaves.
It will be interesting to see how exactly United intend to approach Sesko in case they pick the 19-year-old Slovenian. Currently at RB Salzburg, Sesko has already signed a five-year contract with Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig which kicks in at the end of the season, and the price for his services at that point will likely go through the roof.
Vlahovic is likely to prove just as difficult to prize away from Juventus. The Serbia international joined the Bianconeri in January this year, and at the age of 22 and with eight goals from 15 matches this term, he’s surely a part of their long-term plans for the future.
