Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed the club will not let any player leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
There are several notable names on the list of the players whose contracts expire at the end of the season, but United have the options of 12-month extension on each of them and they will exercise them if new deals are not signed by then.
“We are talking to them to extend contracts, but we have control because we have an option on all the players and we will exercise those options,” Ten Hag said in a conference with the representatives of the British press at United’s training camp in Jerez.
The most important players who would be free to leave at the end of the season if the club didn’t have that option are forward Marcus Rashford, who has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, and right-back Diogo Dalot, who is enjoying a new lease of life under Ten Hag this season, having pushed Aaron Wan-Bissaka out of the starting XI permanently.
