Competition: Premier League
Market: Man Utd to finish top-four in 2014/15
Odds: 1/2 @ Betfair
With Netherlands manager Louis Van Gaal to take over at Manchester United, many now believe the side can get back into the top-four next season. Last season, the Red Devils finished in 7th place in the Premier League, with 64 points, which led to manager David Moyes to get sacked with four games to go.
Van Gaal has succeeded him and boasts a good track record at the top level, managing Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. United are expected to spend this summer as there are two long-serving defenders leaving the club – Nemanja Vidic & Rio Ferdinand. Patrice Evra could be leaving too, so Southampton’s Luke Shaw has already been lined up to replace him.
As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 1/2 to finish the 2014/15 season in the top-four of the Premier League in Van Gaal’s debut campaign at the club.
The fact United won’t be in the Champions League next season could benefit them as Europe won’t be a distraction on their league hopes as the large fixture list can hamper teams‘ fitness.
