Man Utd have bid rejected for Lazio star
Italian media outlet Le Repubblica has suggested that Manchester United attempted to recruit Lazio hotshot Felipe Anderson in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils eventually splashed out on Anthony Martial on transfer deadline day, but it has now been revealed that the Brazilian footballer had been their primary target.
Having been impressed with the player’s performances in Italian Serie A, Manchester United offered €50 million for the 22-year-old footballer.
However, Lazio rejected the bid and the Red Devils then decided to pursue other targets and agreed a deal for Marial shortly afterwards.
Felipe Anderson remains on the radar of Europe’s top sides following a breakthrough season in Italy that saw him score 10 goals and produce 7 assists in 32 league appearances.
After missing out on this year’s Champions League by losing in the play-offs, Lazio can be backed at 5/1 to achieve another top 3 finish.
Iturbe happy to stay at Roma
AS Roma winger Juan Manuel Iturbe has made it clear that he has no problem fighting for his place at Stadio Olimpico.
The Argentine footballer was set to join Genoa on the final day of the summer transfer window, but the Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabaniti eventually pulled the plug on the deal.
This basically means that Iturbe will remain on the fringes at AS Roma, but the player is adamant he is ready to fight for his place.
“My head has always been at Roma. We feel stronger, I thank the fans for their support,” Iturbe told Sky Sport Italia.
“The club have invested so much in me, I also thank the chiefs for their confidence. Now, I am calmer.”
Juan Manuel Iturbe, 22, has failed to prove his worth since joining in a €22 million deal from Hellas Verona, having scored just two goals in 28 Serie A appearances, but there is still time for the talented footballer to make things right.
Benfica to sign Argentine midfielder
Benfica are set to complete the signing of midfielder Franco Servi from Rosario, the Argentine club have confirmed.
It was Sporting Lisbon that first showed interest in the 21-year-old footballer, but the Eagles managed to hijack their bid and now appear to have agreed a deal with Rosario Central.
Franco Emanuel Cervi will be joining Benfica in the winter transfer window, as the Argentine club claims an agreement is already in place.
“It is true that there is an agreement between the clubs,” Rosario Central chairman Raul Broglia confessed to A Bola.
“Right now there are only minor details to be sorted, but those will not prevent the completion of the deal.”
The transfer taking Franco Cervi to Benfica should be made official on Monday, following the derby game between Rosario Central and Estudiantes, which the midfielder is set to miss through a muscle injury.
