Manchester United are hot on the trail of Mainz striker Yoshimori Muto, according to Bild.
It is no secret that the Red Devils are in the market for attacking reinforcements and they reportedly wanted to lure the Japanese forward to Old Trafford this winter.
However, Bild has learned that Mainz rejected a €15 million bid for the player’s services as they do not seem prepared to cash in on their prized asset just yet.
Following the promising start to his career at Tokyo, Muto made a high-profile switch to Mainz in the summer and he took to German Bundesliga like duck to water.
The 23-year-old went on to score 7 goals in his first 18 league appearances for the club, with his value increasing a great deal in just six months.
Mainz will now give their best to keep hold of Muto for as long as possible, but they will ultimately struggle to resist big money offers from abroad.
