Manchester United have reportedly made late attempt to hijack Southampton wonderkid Alex Chamberlain’s move to Arsenal.
Reports have in recent days claimed the 17-year-old is set to join the Gunners in a £10million deal, but Sir Alex Ferguson has made a late bid to hijack the deal, according to The Sun.
A United insider told The Sun: “The boss has made his move and now it’s down to the lad and his family to decide – but United are a massive club to turn down.”
Alex’s dad, former England international Mark Chamberlain, has previously admitted that his son could follow in the footsteps of Theo Walcott and join Arsenal.
Chamberlain said: “Alex is technically better than Walcott and can play in a more central role.
“He is not the most robust but he has been working on strengthening since he was 10.”
