Premier League underachieving giants Manchester United are reportedly ready to make an audacious world-record swoop for Barcelona star striker Luis Suarez.

The Sun oiled the rumour mill with their reports that the Red Devils will throw $135 million in Barcelona’s face in effort to persuade the Catalans to cash in on the 29-year-old Uruguay international.

Having spent $90 million to bring back Paul Pogba to Old Trafford this summer as part of their $170 million transfer splurge, Manchester United are seemingly once again ready to break the bank to boost their attack with one of the most prolific strikers in world football.

And while football-loving community is drooling over the prospect of another record-breaking transfer, we take aim at a couple of aspects intended to prove Luis Suarez links with Manchester United are just a project of imagination.

Golden Boy

Luis Suarez’s impressive scoring exploits have been gilded in October as the Uruguay international collected the Golden Shoe for the 2015-16 season as the leading goal scorer in domestic European football.

Luis Suarez has already built up on his 40-goal tally from last season, but a special event was thrown in his honour ten days ago at the old Estrella Damm factory in Barcelona as a tribute to last season’s success.

Suarez was presented with the trophy from none other than his own two children, Benjamin and Delfina. Moved by the moment and this touching detail, Luis Suarez has also enjoyed in a screening of a commemorable video featuring messages from several people who have played a role in his life such as Uruguay national team head coach Oscar Tabarez among others.

Luis Suarez is no stranger to Golden Shoe, the award he had already won while playing for Liverpool in 2013/14 season when he finished level with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Given the 29-year-old’s fruitful season thus far, Luis Suarez has been given 11/8 betting odds to become a Spanish La Liga top scorer with Barcelona.

Liverpool Legacy

Luis Suarez as a former Liverpool forward and fan favourite still nurtures a close relationship with Merseyside club and a potential Manchester United transfer would be a knife in every Liverpool fan’s heart.

Having notched 133 performances for the Reds during his four years at Anfield with 82 goals to his name, Luis Suarez left a huge Liverpool legacy which he openheartedly cherishes and shares publicly, whenever given the opportunity to do so.

Luis Suarez takes every chance to return to Liverpool and visit his old club. His most recent visit occurred in March 2016 when Uruguay star used a rare free week without a game for Barcelona to come and catch up with former teammates and watch his former club in training.

Having spent the morning at Melwood with his son Benji and daughter Delfina, Luis Suarez also had a relaxing stroll through the club premises.

The fact Suarez wanted to return to Liverpool during his time off with Barcelona speaks volumes of how highly the Uruguay international holds the club.

Liverpool Football Club supported Luis Saurez during his most difficult days in the career and the Uruguay striker uses every chance he gets to repay his former club, which is why Manchester United links just seem unbelievable.

Barcelona Renewal

Manchester United rumours come at a delicate moment in Luis Suarez’s career.

Having registered three goals and as many assists in his last two matches with Spanish champions, Luis Suarez once again displayed world-class form.

Barcelona forward is enjoying a fruitful partnership with Leo Messi and Neymar upfront, making for one of the most lethal forward trio in football history.

With his impressive scoring exploits reaching a number of 94 goals in 110 appearances for Barcelona during the three years in Spain, Luis Suarez and Barcelona have already expressed their mutual interest in renewing the contract.

Luis Suarez has already stated his wish to finish his career at Camp Nou, while Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu used this week’s annual meeting to confirm that the Catalan giants are ready to offer contract extension to Uruguay star.

“Neymar has renewed and now we are trying so that Suarez stays here for many years to come and then we will speak with Messi of course”, Bartomeu said.

With all being said there are some inclinations towards believing that Manchester United links could have been used to prompt Barcelona to wrap up the deal with Suarez as soon as possible.

The Red Devils have struggled to get back up on their feet ever since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure and a lack of thought in club’s development has once again been highlighted through the latest Luis Suarez links.

Throwing money around is apparently not enough to solve the problems for the Old Trafford club with Jose Mourinho and his men struggling to find the identity and establish themselves as genuine title contenders.

For Luis Suarez to give up on living the Barca dream just to ruin Premier League legacy he worked hard for is in my opinion utterly inconceivable.
