Manchester United have not been in direct contact with Tottenham over the sale of Dimitar Berbatov since they made the first bid for the Bulgarian striker, according to a report in The Guardian. That same reports now claims that Manchester United have made a second and improved offer and are awaiting Tottenham’s decision on the matter.
Reports suggest that Manchester United’s first offer was worth around £20 million, but Tottenham wanted £30 million for their striker. Sir Alex Ferguson has now made an offer of about £25 million and it is widely expected that Tottenham will compromise after it became clear that the player cannot stay at the club.
However, The Independent reports that Manchester United will not conclude any deal for Dimitar Berbatov until Tottenham drop their complaint. Tottenham complained to the Premier League that Manchester United made an illegal approach for Dimitar Berbatov after Sir Alex Ferguson was quoted exclusively in The Sun as saying that any deal is imminent.
