Premier League giants Manchester United remain hot on the trail of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, Cadena Cope has suggested.
The Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is well aware of the player’s qualities having worked with him at Santiago Bernabeu, and he is hoping to lure him to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.
Despite signing Eric Bailly from Villarreal, the Portuguese tactician aims to add another quality centre-back to his ranks.
However, Manchester United will have to make a real effort if they want to secure a deal for Varane considering that Real Madrid have no intention of letting him go.
And while the Frenchman earlier had plans to leave Santiago Bernabeu, he has decided to remain with los Blancos after the clear-the-air talks with Zinedine Zidane.
Varane, 23, has spent last five years with Real Madrid, making a total of 92 La Liga appearances.
