Premier League giants Manchester United have made Sporting CP midfielder Joao Mario their number one target, according to A Bola.
The Red Devils were widely tipped to sign Renato Sanches from Benfica, but they ultimately pulled out of the chase, allowing Bayern Munich to complete the deal.
However, the latest reports suggest they will be shopping in Portugal after all, with Joao Mario now emerging as their top target.
A Bola claims that Manchester United scouts have been impressed with the Portugal international and they hope to complete the deal ahead of the Euro 2016 finals.
The Red Devils plan to offer between €35m and €40m for the highly rated footballer, but it is believed that Sporting CP are holding out for no less than €60 million.
Joao Mario has been one of club’s star performers this season, having managed 6 goals and 11 assists in 32 league appearances for the Lions.
