Spanish newspaper Marca believes that Real Madird are willing to pay Cristiano Ronaldo €9.5 million per year after tax. This monster salary comes just short of what Barcelona are reported to give Thierry Henry every year, but it would still go a long way toward making the 23 year old one of the best paid athletes in the world.
Rumours of a Cristiano Ronaldo move to the Spanish capital refuse to go away with Spanish newspaper Marca being the principal culprit. Manchester United have repeatedly denied that any sort of deal will go through, while comments from the Madrid camp are always ambiguous.
Yesterday, in an interview transcribed by The Times Online, Sir Alex Ferguson said, that unlike Beckham and van Nisterlooy, he does not want Ronaldo to leave, so it will be hard for teams to poach him from what is now he best club in Europe.
Meanwhile, Ramon Calderon has gone defensive after a scathing attack by Sir Alex Ferguson by saying that all comments made on behalf of Real Madrid were respectful toward Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo, that also according to Marca.
