The managers of European top clubs face another nervous day. There are a lot of international friendlies scheduled on Wednesday and Robin van Persie’s injury frightened a lot of coaches. “I think all managers will be praying in front of the television on Wednesday,” Dirk Kuyt told De Telegraaf.
Holland international Van Persie picked up an ankle injury during Saturday’s friendly match against Italy that will sideline the Arsenal striker for six weeks. The Netherlands face Paraguay this Wednesday and the South Americans are known for their physical game. But Kuyt doesn’t fear an injury. “I always want to play,” the Liverpool winger explained. “As a player you need to prove yourself and work for the team.”
“I don’t change my game or hide myself to avoid an injury. But football always has a risk to it.”
