Competition: EFL Cup
Market: Manchester City win to nil
Odds: 4/6 @ Bet 365
Two sides who have endured very different starts to the new season, Pep Guardiola’s defending EFL champions will welcome Fulham to Manchester on Thursday.
Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of another impressive performance in their 4-0 win away at Burnley over the weekend, many have Pep Guardiola’s side tipped for yet another record-breaking season domestically. Along with scoring nine in their last four, the former Barcelona boss will be most impressed by his sides recent defensive record. Going nearly 10 hours without conceding a Premier League goal, the Sky Blues have now not shipped a domestic goal at the Etihad since the 1st of September. Backing the defending EFL champions to come through unscathed certainly seems like the smartest bet here.
As for the visitors, although Fulham may have spent over £100million on new arrivals over the summer, it couldn’t be a worse start for Slaviša Jokanović’s side. Coming off the back of a very woeful showing in their 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth last Saturday, the Cottagers are now enduring a four-match losing run in the Premier League and now hold the worse defensive record in England’s top tier. Slipping into the relegation zone over the weekend, Fulham also needed a late comeback to overcome Championship side Millwall in the last round.
