According to reports in France, English champions Manchester City have re-entered themselves into the race to sign Junior Firpo. The 22 year old is currently enjoying his time with Spanish club Real Betis, but it seems like only a matter of time before he takes a big step up in his career.
Of course, it’s not going to be that simple for City, mainly because the other primary team that is interested is Real Madrid. Firpo may lean towards going to the Bernabeu given his experience in Spanish football, but at the same time, the influence of Pep Guardiola could cause him to alter his plans.
Firpo first turned professional back in 2015 with the Betis B team, before being promoted to the senior squad earlier this year. He’s also appeared for the Spain U21s, too, with some media members tipping him to become a major star in the next few years both domestically and internationally.
