Manchester City are one win away from retaining the Premier League title and two wins away from winning the domestic treble. But that does not mean that planning for the next season is not up and running. According to Sky Sports, the champions of England are close to securing a deal to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
They have been looking to add another more attacking central midfielder, which will operate in the role of ‘number 8’, ahead of Fernandinho and looks like the Portuguese will be that man. The clubs are reportedly set to agree a fee of between £50m and £60m for the midfielder.
Fernandes is seen as a potential successor to David Silva, whose performances have been dropping this season, as the 32-year-old is simply getting closer to the end of his career. The 24-year-old Fernandes has 19 goals and 13 assists in Liga NOS this season playing mostly as a central midfielder.
