Manchester City are interested in signing Federico Valverde from Real Madrid in the January transfer window, according to CaughtOffSide. City, who won the Premier League title last season, are looking for a replacement for the injured Rodri and have identified Valverde as a potential target.
CaughtOffSide has reported that Madrid, who won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season, do not want to sell Valverde in the middle of the season, but City could offer as much as €70 million for the 26-year-old Uruguay international midfielder, who has a release clause of €1 billion.
Valverde has been on the books of Madrid since 2016 and has established himself as a key player for Los Blancos. The midfielder has won La Liga three times and the UEFA Champions League twice with Madrid so far in his career. Valverde has scored two goals and provided two assists in 12 La Liga games and has played four times in the UEFA Champions League for Carlo Ancelotti’s side so far this campaign.
