Manchester City edging closer to Aymeric Laporte

Manchester City have beaten Barcelona in the race for a highly-rated Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte, Spanish daily outlet Marca has reported.

As the current season has exposed Manchester City’s defensive weaknesses, the club officials have gone on a lookout for a player who would increase competition for places and bring new quality in the backline.

Citizens’ top priority has reportedly been the 21-yeard-old French starlet Laporte, who has allegedly made it clear he is open to a transfer to the Etihad stadium as he is relishing the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola, who will be taking over at City during summer.

Marca claim that Spanish manager played an important role in the pursuit of the talented defender.

What is more, the same source claim that City have already agreed all contractual terms with the 21-year-old player, who will be signing a five-year deal with the Premier League outfit.
