Manchester City are interested in signing Nico Gonzalez from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun. The report in the British tabloid has claimed that City manager Pep Guardiola is keeping a close eye on 20-year-old Spanish midfielder, whose father used to work as a youth coach at the defending Premier League champions.
Gonzalez has broken into the Barcelona first team, and City are very keen on bringing the midfielder to the Etihad Stadium. The 20-year-old has a release clause of £500 million in his contract, but City know that they will not have to pay anywhere near that for him.
The 20-year-old has made 11 starts and 10 substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona so far this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process. Gonzalez has also made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League, and has played once in the Europa League for the Blaugrana so far this campaign.
