Premier League title holders Manchester City are said to have identified Atletico Madrid starlet Saul Niguez as their top transfer target for the summer.
The Spanish international is seen as a perfect replacement for Fernandinho and Pep Guardiola is willing to go the extra mile in order to bring a player who can become a long-term solution for the central midfield position.
The 24-year-old has spent the entirety of his career at Atletico Madrid and luring him away would be a real challenge after over 230 first-team appearances with Los Rojiblancos.
Niguez is contracted to Atletico Madrid until 2026 and is under a whopping €150 million release clause, which could be a major stumbling block for the Citizens.
Saul Niguez is widely regarded as one of the vital players in Diego Simeone’s side and will need some major convincing in order to leave Madrid.
