Manchester City frontrunners in potential Gibbs-White race

As reported by The Times, Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White could be a target for several clubs this summer. Forest do not want to part ways with the 25-year-old, but should a transfer become possible at some price, it’s understood that Manchester City would be leading the race for his signature.

Having won the European Champions Cup back in 1979 and 1980, Forest are fighting to return to the European elite for next season, currently sitting in fourth place with 57 points – two more than City and three more than Chelsea. Gibbs-White has played a major role in their surprisingly good campaign, and the club’s reluctance to part ways with such a player is easy to understand.

However, with two years remaining on his contract, it might be the last chance for Forest to get a full market value for Gibbs-White, unless they manage convince him to recommit by signing a new deal in the near future.

City are believed to have been monitoring Gibbs-White since last summer and with Kevin De Bruyne set to leave the Etihad, their need has grown stronger.

Newcastle have been credited with interest as well.
