Manchester City in Can chase

The Daily Star understands that Manchester City are in the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.

The Germany international is set to be out of contract in the summer, with Serie A champions Juventus favourites to secure his services.

However, bookmakers have installed the Premier League leaders as the most likely club to sign the twenty-four year old should he decide to stay in England.

A move to City would see him reunited with Pep Guardiola, who he briefly worked with at Bayern Munich before he moved to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.

After a season with Leverkusen, Can signed for Liverpool and has since racked up one hundred and sixty-two appearances in all competitions, scoring fourteen goals.

He has been capped twenty times for his country with his one and only international goal so far coming in a 5-1 World Cup qualification victory over Azerbaijan back in October.
