Spanish newspaper Marca is reporting that Manchester City are readying a substantial bid for Real Madrid defender Pepe.
Incoming Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini values the Portuguese defender highly and he is prepared to offer around €25 million for his services.
The Citizens are also looking to double the player’s current wage, meaning he would be earning €7 million per campaign at Etihad.
After Jose Mourinho left Santiago Bernabeu, Pepe is happy to remain at the club, but he is aware this is his last chance to sign a lucrative contract.
With Raphael Varane also moving in front of him in the pecking order, the 30-year-old would seriously consider any offer that arrives from Manchester City.
Pepe, who joined los Blancos in a €30 million deal from Porto back in the summer of 2007, has clocked up a total of 138 La Liga appearances for the club and scored 4 goals.
