Manchester City in shock link to Van Aanholt

Manchester City are considering a surprise move for Crystal Palace full-back Patrick van Aanholt, according to the Mail Online.

The Premier League leaders are on the lookout for cover in that position with Benjamin Mendy out of action with a serious knee injury.

Fabian Delph has performed well in that area for Pep Guardiola, but the Spaniard wants to strengthen further as he looks to a league title in a third European country following his success with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Van Aanholt has impressed since moving to Selhurst Park from Sunderland but Eagles manager Roy Hodgson may be interested in cashing in and using the money to strengthen elsewhere.

The twenty-seven year old has made just twenty-two appearances in all competitions for the London club, scoring two goals.

City host Feyenord in their penultimate Champions League group game on Tuesday evening, with the home win priced at 1/8.
