According to Football Insider, Manchester City are interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. The report quotes former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown, “who remains very well-connected within the game”, as the source for this information.
City apparently believe the 24-year-old England international is a good candidate to be a part of their defence rebuild. John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake have all had various injury problems recently, which, combined with the season-long absence of Rodri, is obviously a big problem for the faltering Premier League champions. Pep Guardiola’s side have now lost eight of their last 11 matches in all competitions, drawing twice and winning just once in that span.
Guehi, who “ticks a lot of boxes” for Guardiola, was heavily linked with Liverpool in the past and then even more seriously with Newcastle, and while the Reds never took any concrete steps to make the transfer happen, the Magpies have reportedly had several offers rejected by Crystal Palace over the summer.
