Manchester City are showing interest in Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin, according to AS.
It is no secret the Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini is looking to sign a new defensive partner for captain Vincent Kompany considering that neither Martin Demichelis nor Matija Nastasic managed to prove their worth at the Etihad.
And AS has revealed that the Spaniard is eyeing a summer move for Atletico Madrid stalwart Diego Godin.
The Uruguayan has been a part of defence that conceded mere 22 league goals this season, helping los Colchoneros climb to the top of La Liga standings.
Godin’s excellent displays at the back did not go unnoticed as Manchester City and few more top clubs are casting admiring glances his way.
The 28-year-old will star for Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup, meaning the Citizens will be keen to wrap up the deal as soon as possible as the player’s value could increase a great deal after the tournament finals.
