Manchester City are showing interest in Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez, The Sun has revealed.
The Citizens are short of options up front after Alvaro Negredo left for Valencia and John Guidetti joined Celtic, so chances are they will be adding another striker in January.
According to The Sun, Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez is one of the first names on their hit-list even though he is currently sidelined through injury.
Manchester City officials have been impressed by the England international and the Citizens clearly wouldn’t have any problems matching the reported £15 million asking price.
The 25-year-old has largely impressed since joining the Saints from Burnley two years ago, having bagged 21 goals in 68 Premier League appearances for the club.
Rodriguez made his England debut in a friendly defeat to Chile in November 2013, but was subsequently ruled out of the 2014 World Cup after suffering a knee ligament injury in April this year.
