Manchester City are readying a move for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to the Daily Star.
The Premier League champions are set to spend big this summer as they look to end the season without any silverware.
Defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday evening left Manuel Pellegrini’s side nine points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea, while they once again failed to make a real impression on the Champions League, going out to Barcelona in the last sixteen of the competition.
City have already been linked with Reds’ duo Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling, and are now weighing up a bid for Coutinho, who has been one of the stand out performers in Brendan Rodgers’ side so far this season.
He has made forty-four appearances in all competitions in the campaign so far, scoring six goals – the last of which the winner in Wednesday evening’s FA Cup quarter-final replay victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Liverpool will face Aston Villa in the semi-finals of the competition a week on Sunday, and can now be backed at 13/8 to lift the trophy next month.
