Premier League giants Manchester City are believed to be in pole position to sign Sporting CP midfielder William Carvalho, according to Record.
The 24-year-old is on the radar of quite a few top clubs, but the Citizens appear to have the upper hand at the moment.
Manchester City scouts have watched the Portugal international on regular basis this season, while the Premier League side also have an ace up their sleeve.
Namely, William Carvalho’s agent is none other than Pere Guardiola, the brother of the Citizens manager Pep Guardiola, which clearly gives the Premier League giants an advantage over other interested clubs.
Sporting CP have so far resisted the temptation to cash in on their prized asset, but a summer sale may be on the cards.
William Carvalho was an important member of the Portugal national team that lifted the Euro 2016 trophy, starting five games at the tournament finals.
