Manchester City looking at Grimaldo

Premier League leaders Manchester City are hot on the trail of Benfica full-back Alejandro Grimaldo Garcia, according to A Bola.

The Citizens manager Pep Guardiola is well aware of the defender’s qualities from his time at Camp Nou and he appears to be looking to get reunited with the 21-year-old.

Namely, Pep Guardiola watched the full-back in action on Monday as Benfica defeated Sporting Braga 3-1, which is enough to suggest he is considering making a move for Grimaldo in the near future.

Even though he was widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Barcelona’s youth academy, the talented footballer decided to join Benfica in January 2016 as he was searching for regular playing time.

After taking six months to adapt to the new surroundings, Grimaldo went on to nail down a regular starting berth and he has been in fine form at the start of the new season.
