Manchester City are in a lot of trouble right now. After losing 2-1 to Manchester United in their last Premier League match, the champions of England have fallen 14 points behind Liverpool, as the Reds continue their impeccable performances.
Now it looks almost incredible how Man City have decided last summer not to sign another centre-back when their defence was so low on numbers, especially after the departure of Vincent Kompany. Pep Guardiola’s side is now looking towards Barcelona in order to find some answers, as City want to mount a Champions League challenge in the spring.
According to L’Equipe, they are considering a move for centre-back Samuel Umtiti. He has not been playing much for Ernesto Valverde’s side, just 277 minutes in La Liga and whilst Guardiola says he will not be looking to spend in January, the club are realizing they need reinforcements in that position.
