There were talks of Ben Chilwell, Luka Jovic and even Mathijs de Ligt, but the latest rumour is that Manchester City really want to get Tanguy Ndombele this summer. That is what Daily Mail claims this Saturday, as the French midfielder could be a good solution for Pep Guardiola’s quandaries in central midfield.
Ndombele is a 22-year old central midfielder who can also play as defensive midfielder. This season for him at Olympique Lyon has really showed all of his qualities on and off the ball, as Ndombele can be a disruptive, but also a creative figure in the centre of the park. Guardiola could want to sign Ndombele to make him a heir to Fernandinho.
The Brazilian is the only real defensive midfielder in this Man City team and their hopes of biggest titles hinge on him being fit, as there is no real replacement for one of the key players in their team. Ndombele could firstly provide backup to Fernandinho and then become his successor. However, Man City would need to splash a lot of money on him, as all of the biggest sides in Europe are monitoring him as well.
