Manchester City think Florian Wirtz would be ‘an ideal signing’ in January

Manchester City are interested in signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in the January transfer window, according to The Times. City, who won the Premier League title last season, are looking for a new midfielder in the middle of the season due to the long-term injury suffered by Rodri and consider Wirtz “an ideal signing”.

However, City are aware that German club Bayer are not willing to sell Wirtz in January. The Citizens also know that Real Madrid are serious about the 21-year-old attacking midfielder in the summer of 2025 and may not be able to tempt him into a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Wirtz, also linked with Paris Saint-Germain, is one of the best young attacking players in Europe. The Germany international has been on the books of Bayer since 2020 and has established himself as one of the first names on the German club’s teamsheet. The 21-year-old has scored five goals and given four assists in the Bundesliga and has scored five goals and provided one assist in the UEFA Champions League this season.
