Premier League rivals Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to open negotiations over a proposed summer transfer of Kyle Walker, Sky Sports has learned.
England right-back has emerged as one of the top transfer targets for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who feels an offer worth £40 million would be enough to persuade Tottenham Hotspur to cut their star player loose.
The Spurs, however, are in no rush to sell and are believed to be looking to push up the price for the England international right-back closer to £50 million.
Kyle Walker signed a five-year deal with Tottenham last September and spent the majority of last season as the first choice by the right-side touchline. The 27-year-old lost his place in the closing stages of the season as Mauricio Pochettino rotated him with Kieran Trippier.
Walker is understood to be happy to remain with the Spurs but will require some guarantees over his position in the team next season.
