Manchester City are close to signing Kalvin Phillips from Premier League rivals Leeds United in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic. The report has claimed that Premier League champions City have reached an agreement with Leeds for the signing of the England international midfielder.
City will pay Leeds an initial transfer fee of £42 million for Phillips, with potential bonuses valuing £3 million. The transfer could be finalised as early as next week, even though the 26-year-old is on vacation at the moment.
Phillips is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and has been superb for Leeds over the years, first in the Championship and then in the top flight of English football. The 26-year-old has scored one goal and created six big chances in 49 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
