According to a recent report from AS, Manchester City have made an approach to try and sign Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. He has been a shining light for Palace throughout the course of the season thus far, with City wanting to bring him in as a replacement for Claudio Bravo.
City have already made contact with the 32-year-old and, in turn, Palace want to try and lock him down to a new long-term contract. That makes sense given the assurances that they can give him in comparison to Manchester City, who would purely be using him as a back-up and for competitions outside of the Premier League.
It feels like this would be a significant step down and in many ways, it’s a little bit insulting from City to assume that they can just expect players to come in and warm up the seats on the bench.
The Eagles are showcasing more grit and determination than most clubs in the top flight this season, and you could even argue more than City themselves as the reigning champions continue to fall further behind leaders Liverpool.
