Manchester City have been told that they will need to cough up at least €100 million to land Daniele De Rossi, according to ESPN.
Roberto Mancini has been after the midfielder for some time now and reports earlier this week suggested a move could be close.
However, City – who have yet to add to their squad this summer – will have to break the bank to land the 29-year-old.
Roma director of football Walter Sabatini said: “De Rossi is a leader for us and therefore we never considered selling De Rossi, naturally.”
As with any of these transfer situations, money does talk. So, if City wanted to land the Italian, they would have to put in an offer that is too good for Roma to turn down.
Then, it comes down to the player. De Rossi is Roma through and through of course, so whether he would fancy a move to England remains to be seen.
Mancini is not letting this one go though and there should be some developments in the next few days. The City boss believes De Rossi would be perfect for his midfield.
Speaking of Mancini, there is no doubt that he is frustrated with the lack of transfer activity so far this summer.
Despite winning the Premier League, Mancini has not been able to land his targets and with the season approaching, this is incredibly annoying for him.
Will De Rossi be his first summer signing? We shall see.
