According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have re-ignited their pursuit of Tottenham’s prize striker, Dimitar Berbatov. Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign Berbatov last summer but Tottenham refused to sell the 27 year old, Bulgarian striker.
Spurs are still reluctant to let him leave and have placed a £30 million price tag on his head to dissuade suitors. However, the United boss is ready to make a fresh £23m bid in an effort to pair him with England international, Wayne Rooney.
With the Tevez loan deal developing into an issue and Saha and Ronaldo possibly leaving, Manchester could be short-handed on proven, Premiership goalscorers next season. Securing the services of Berbatov, who has scored 46 goals in 101 apperances at Tottenham, could very much repair the pending damage to Ferguson’s attack.
