The EFL Cup is back this week as teams jostle to make it to the quarter-finals of the competition. As it constitutes the first piece of available silverware early next year, the top sides want to alleviate some of the pressure on them by lifting the EFL Cup, and Manchester United are no different as they take on Swansea City on Tuesday.

Swansea are the hosts on Tuesday as they look to bounce back from their disappointing weekend defeat at the hands of Leicester. The week before they managed to pick up a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Huddersfield, meaning that they are in very inconsistent form. Five defeats in nine has seen Swansea sink to 15th in the league with eight points, level with Everton in 18th. While the fans will want to see their team progress as far as they can in the cup, it would benefit them to focus on their league situation instead.

Manchester United have hit a poor run in recent weeks as they are winless in their last two Premier League games. An insipid 0-0 draw with Liverpool was followed by a 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield, and a further loss to Swansea on Tuesday would see pressure pile on Jose Mourinho and his side. 22 goals in nine league games is a good return, and the home side will fancy their chances against a Swansea side that has scored just six times in nine games. With this in mind, Bet365 have given Manchester United odds of 11/20 to beat Swansea.
