AC Milan were reportedly interested in signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, but as they were unable to reach an agreement with the Serie A rivals over the transfer fee, Manchester United have moved into the leading position in the race.
According to Caught Offside, the 20-time English champions have now reached an agreement on personal terms with the 23-year-old striker, and they’re currently in talks with Bologna over the payment structure for his £34 million release clause. However, the transfer is not done yet, and Milan could still return to the table with a greater offer than before.
With United’s forwards struggling with goalscoring form in 2023/24, manager Erik ten Hag is believed to be looking for a new man to lead his attacking line, and he sees Zirkzee as a good choice for the role.
The Netherlands international, who is currently representing his country at the Euros, has scored 14 goals and produced nine assists in 58 matches for Bologna so far.
