Manchester United in bid for Cuadrado
Manchester United have submitted a mega money offer for Fiorentina winger Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, reports Bild.
While they await the arrival of new boss Louis van Gaal, the Red Devils have already wrapped up deals for Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw, and the third marque signing appears to be on the horizon.
According to Bild, Manchester United have offered no less than €50 million for Fiorentina star Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
The interesting thing is that van Gaal’s former club Bayern Munich are keen as well, but the Bavarians are unlikely to match the said proposal.
Juan Cuadrado has been in stunning form at the 2014 World Cup, scoring one goal and producing four assists to help Los Cafeteros qualify for the quarter-finals.
Colombia will be in action later today as they square off against hosts Brazil, and Jose Pekerman’s side are 2/1 to qualify for the semis.
Roma join race for Rabiot
Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that AS Roma are stepping up their efforts to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain.
The talented footballer is almost certain to leave the Saints this summer as his contract is due to expire in a year’s time, and it appears Italian Serie A is the most likely destination.
While a number of Europe’s top sides are showing interest in his services, the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus seem to be leading the chase, although AS Roma seem to have moved to the front of the queue.
The Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini has flown to Paris to try and wrap up the deal, with the bidding set to start at €4m or €5m.
Adrien Rabiot, 19, has already shown a great deal of potential, making 25 Ligue 1 starts, while amassing another 19 substitute appearances.
He is, however, not satisfied with his current status at Parc des Princes and looks set to leave for greener pastures.
Gignac set for Marseille stay
Experienced striker Andre-Pierre Gignac could remain at Stade Velodrome beyond the summer, according to La Provence.
With his contract due to expire in June 2015, the France international was widely tipped to leave Marseille in the summer transfer window.
And even though the club have signed him a replacement in Michy Batshuayi, the latest reports suggest Gignac will not be leaving after all.
The striker has repeatedly stated his love for the club and he also appears to be looking forward to working with Marcelo Bielsa.
And with the Argentine coach keen on keeping hold of the highly rated forward, the club officials will not be pushing him to leave, but rather plan to offer him a new deal.
Following the slow start to his career at Stade Velodrome, Gignac has finally proved his worth over the last two seasons, notching 18 and 22 goals respectively.
