Manchester United and Chelsea battle for Fabregas

Spanish daily Marca has suggested that Manchester United and Chelsea are readying bids for Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas.

The Catalans look ready to cash in on the Spain international in the summer and they are reportedly holding out for €40 million.

And while many believed his former club Arsenal would make a move, Marca understands that Manchester United and Chelsea have emerged as favourites for the player’s signature.

The Red Devils are prepared to offer Fabregas a long-term deal worth around €6 million per campaign, which would be a significant pay rise.

Chelsea also appear to be keen, but they are not willing to go above €5 million per season, and that could see them miss out on the highly rated midfielder.

Cesc Fabregas should be an important player for Spain at the 2014 World Cup, where La Furia Roja are priced at 13/2 to win the fourth major tournament in a row.
