Manchester United and Chelsea set for Coleman battle

Manchester United and Chelsea are set to battle to sign Everton full-back Seamus Coleman when the transfer window reopens, according to the Express.

The Republic of Ireland international has emerged as one of the best players in his position over the past two seasons, attracting interest from a number of the Toffee’s Premier League rivals.

Both Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho could be set to make a bid of around £20m for 26 year old, who’s current deal runs until 2019, in January though Roberto Martinez will fight to keep him at Goodison Park.

Injury saw him absent from Martin O’Neill’s squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Germany, though he is expected to be fit in time to face Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

Everton are currently just one place and two points ahead of the relegation zone, and can now be backed at 9/4 to finish in the top six.
