Manchester United have all but agreed to sign German defender Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund, according to Sport.
The Red Devils have been in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, but they appear to have secured the signature of one of world’s top centre-backs.
Sport understands that the two sides are on the verge of agreeing a €20 million transfer fee, and everything suggests the deal will be made official by the end of the week.
The Millionaires have already signed a replacement for Hummels having recruited Matthias Ginter from Freiburg, which is enough to suggest they are ready to cash in on their star player.
Spanish giants Barcelona also attempted to lure the Germany international to Camp Nou, but they never came even close to succeeding in their quest.
Mats Hummels, 25, joined the Millionaires from arch rivals Bayern Munich in January 2008 and since managed 171 Bundesliga appearances for the club.
